Yumie is a fantastically talented Japanese mosaic artist. She attended one of Emma Biggs courses back in 2006 and then worked as a volunteer mosaic assistant on one of Mosaic Workshop's most ambitious projects, the Howard Street rill in Sheffield.

Her delicate cutting and colour combination is superb and Yumie has also successfully managed to mix glass and unglazed ceramic which shows a good understanding of texture. She is now back home in Japan but keeps us up to date on her current work and recently came to see us during a trip to the UK. As part of this visit she went to see the finished mosaic rill on Howard Street in Sheffield to which she made such a valuable contribution.
